NO-FAULT DIVORCE

Arizona is a no-fault divorce state. This means the reason for the divorce or who is at fault for the divorce doesn’t matter (legally). Obviously, the reason will normally matter to the people involved, but it does not matter to the court. Beyond that, the fault will not affect the distribution of assets unless it can be shown that a party misappropriated a marital asset. A couple only needs to state that their marriage is irretrievably broken to obtain a divorce.
